The Diploma 3 (D3) Midwifery Study Program at the Institute of Health Sciences (IIK) Bhakti Wiyata Kediri held a solemn and meaningful Capping Day ceremony, marking one of the most important milestones in the academic journey of its students. This event officially signifies the transition of students from the theoretical learning phase to clinical practice in healthcare facilities.

In an atmosphere filled with emotion and pride, the midwifery students received their caps and pins, symbolizing their readiness to carry out their roles as future midwives. The act of capping is not merely a ceremonial tradition, but also a reaffirmation of their moral, ethical, and professional commitment to delivering maternal and child healthcare services.

The event was attended by lecturers, academic staff, students' families, and clinical fieldwork partners. The ceremony began with a collective prayer, followed by a speech delivered by the Head of the D3 Midwifery Study Program, Mrs. Alfadefi Khalifatunnisak, SST., Keb., M.KM., CH.CHt.

In her speech, she conveyed that Capping Day is not merely a ceremony, but a reflective moment for students to internalize the values of knowledge, humanity, and social responsibility.

“Today is not just about wearing the cap; it symbolizes that you are now ready to undertake the noble responsibility of becoming midwives. This marks the beginning of a long journey in clinical practice that will require dedication, empathy, and high professionalism,” she stated.

She also emphasized the importance of maintaining ethics in midwifery practice and upholding the good name of the alma mater.

“We hope that you will become proud ambassadors of IIK Bhakta, bringing forth the spirit of service and scientific excellence that prioritizes the safety of mothers and children. Always give your best, stay humble, and never stop learning,” she added.

The event continued with the reading of the Midwifery Student’s Oath— a moral and spiritual pledge to carry out their duties with professionalism. The emotional highlight of the ceremony was the individual capping of each student by their lecturers, recognizing those deemed ready to enter the clinical phase.

The series of events concluded with a group photo session, marking the beginning of a new chapter for the D3 Midwifery students of IIK Bhakta as they prepare to apply their knowledge and serve the community.

Through the Capping Day ceremony, it is hoped that the students will fully embrace their roles as healthcare professionals who are not only academically competent but also uphold integrity and social compassion. IIK Bhakta, as a health education institution, remains committed to producing graduates who are excellent, humanistic, and well-prepared to face the evolving challenges of the midwifery profession in the modern era.
