Institut Ilmu Kesehatan Bhakti Wiyata (IIK Bhakta) has once again marked a significant milestone in its journey as a higher education institution specializing in health sciences in Indonesia. In 2025, IIK Bhakta proudly welcomes 11 new doctorate holders from various health-related disciplines. This achievement not only reflects an increase in the number of doctoral-level academic staff but also strengthens IIK Bhakta’s role in producing excellent human resources ready to compete globally.

One of them is Dr. Puspa Dila Rohmaniar, drg., M.Kes., who officially earned her Doctoral degree on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, in the Doctoral Program (Ph.D.) in Dental Medicine at Airlangga University, Surabaya. Dr. Dila graduated after completing her studies in 2 years and 8 months with a dissertation titled:
"Healing Mechanism of Post-Tooth Extraction Sockets in Diabetic Wistar Rats (Rattus norvegicus) After Administration of 10% Ethanol Extract Gel of Avocado Seed (Persea americana Mill)."

In her dissertation, Dr. Dila explained that the background of this research lies in the increasing prevalence of diabetes mellitus in Indonesia. Patients with diabetes mellitus experience impaired healing processes, thus requiring special therapies to support recovery after tooth extraction. By utilizing avocado seed waste—one of Kediri's abundant commodities—it is hoped that a therapeutic solution can be developed to improve post-extraction healing under diabetic conditions. This research was conducted on rats, but future development may lead to human applications through further testing and analysis.

A Reflection of Academic and Intellectual Commitment

With this addition, IIK Bhakta now has a total of 20 doctoral graduates. This milestone is concrete proof of the institute’s dedication to managing its academic programs and creating an ecosystem that fosters the growth of professional healthcare personnel.

The Rector of IIK Bhakta, Prof. Dr. apt. Muhamad Zainuddin, expressed pride and appreciation for the lecturers’ dedication in completing such a challenging doctoral journey.

“We extend our warmest congratulations and highest appreciation to the lecturers who completed their doctoral programs this year. This proves that IIK Bhakta not only produces skilled healthcare workers but also scholars and researchers who are ready to contribute significantly to the advancement of science and healthcare services in Indonesia,” said Prof. Zainuddin.

Diverse and Accomplished Doctoral Backgrounds

The 11 new doctorate holders this year come from diverse academic fields, including Dental Medicine, Pharmacy, Nursing, and Public Health. Each of them has undergone a long academic journey with a strong focus on scientific development and solving real-world health issues.

Prof. Zainuddin encouraged the doctoral graduates to continue demonstrating their competence and delivering tangible benefits. Some have successfully published their research in reputable national and international scientific journals. Many have also actively participated in seminars, symposiums, and academic forums to share their ideas and research findings.

This increase in doctorate holders has a positive impact on the institution as a whole. With more doctors in its ranks, IIK Bhakta further strengthens its internal academic and research capacity at the highest level. This will undoubtedly enhance the quality of teaching, research, and community service—the three pillars of Tri Dharma of Higher Education.

With 23 academic programs, IIK Bhakta is committed to continuously improving educational quality through collaborations with domestic and international institutions. The presence of new doctoral faculty members will expand academic networks and open greater opportunities for collaborative research at both national and international levels.

“We don't just aim to produce excellent graduates but also to become a center of scientific and health innovation. The increase in doctoral-level staff is a vital asset in realizing that vision,” explained Prof. Zainuddin.

Contribution to Society and the Health Sector

IIK Bhakta believes that higher education is not solely about academic achievements but also about making meaningful contributions to society. Therefore, these new doctoral graduates are expected to become change agents who bring positive impact—as academics, researchers, and practitioners in various health institutions.

With their expertise, IIK Bhakta’s doctoral faculty members can actively contribute to health policy-making, improving the quality of medical services, and developing technology and innovations in the healthcare sector.

In addition, IIK Bhakta actively opens up opportunities for Indonesia's younger generation to pursue education up to the highest levels. The institution provides various educational facilities, scholarship programs, and academic support systems that promote student development.

With this achievement, IIK Bhakta further solidifies its position as a superior, competitive, and visionary health institution. The addition of this year’s doctoral graduates not only increases the number of PhDs on campus but also strengthens the institution’s contribution to shaping a brighter future for healthcare in Indonesia.
