The Bachelor of Public Health Study Program at the Institute of Health Sciences Bhakti Wiyata (IIK Bhakta) held a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) to strengthen the learning facilities of the Watershed (DAS) Teaching Laboratory. This activity is part of the Impactful Campus Competition Program (PKKB) Grant from the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology in 2025.
The FGD took place on the IIK Bhakta campus from Wednesday to Thursday (29–30 October 2025), featuring expert speakers in the fields of geomorphology and hydrology.
On the first day, the program featured Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Djati Mardiatno, M.Si., who delivered a presentation titled “Environmental Geomorphology and Effective Learning Strategies in the DAS Teaching Laboratory.”
In his explanation, he emphasized that understanding the structure and dynamics of landforms is an essential foundation for sustainable environmental management. Following this, Dr. Tjahyo Nugroho Adji, M.Sc.Tech., presented “Hydrology Integration in the DAS Teaching Laboratory,” which highlighted the relationship between hydrological processes, environmental quality, and their impacts on public health.
The first day's session concluded with the formulation of the final recommendations for the Semester Learning Plan (RPS) for the Environmental Quality Analysis course in the Public Health Study Program.
The second day continued with a focus on strengthening disaster-related aspects. Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Djati Mardiatno, M.Si., delivered a session titled “Geomorphological Aspects in Disaster,” which highlighted the influence of landform characteristics on disaster risk potential.
Meanwhile, Dr. Tjahyo Nugroho Adji, M.Sc.Tech., presented “Hydrological Aspects in Disaster,” emphasizing the importance of water resource management in disaster mitigation efforts. The activity concluded with the finalization of RPS recommendations for the Watershed Ecology course.
Through the implementation of this FGD, the Bachelor of Public Health Study Program at IIK Bhakta reaffirms its commitment to enhancing field-based, integrative, and impactful learning. The strengthening of the DAS Teaching Laboratory is expected to become a leading learning facility that supports student competency development and contributes to institutional engagement in environmental and disaster-related issues
