The Institut Ilmu Kesehatan Bhakti Wiyata (IIK Bhakta) Kediri continues to demonstrate its strategic role in supporting the advancement of the national healthcare sector through interregional cooperation. On Thursday, July 17, 2025, IIK Bhakta welcomed an official delegation from the Government of Bima City, led by the Deputy Mayor, Feri Sofiyan, S.H., along with representatives from the Regional Research and Innovation Agency (BRIDA) of Bima City.

Held at the Adipadma Building of IIK Bhakta, this visit marked a significant moment in establishing a partnership between a higher education institution and a regional government. It was also part of the broader agenda of the Association of Indonesian Municipalities (APEKSI), which this year is hosted in Kediri City.

During the visit, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between IIK Bhakta and the Bima City Government, covering key areas such as education, human resource development in the health sector, and research and innovation based on local potential.

Through this collaboration, the Bima City Government is committed to sending its best and brightest students to pursue higher education at IIK Bhakta in various flagship health programs. IIK Bhakta currently offers 22 study programs in the health sector, with the Bachelor of Physiotherapy and Applied Bachelor's in Traditional Chinese Medicine among the most popular choices for students from Bima.

In his speech, Deputy Mayor Feri Sofiyan, S.H., emphasized that the Bima City Government is currently focusing on the development of RSUD Kota Bima (Bima Regional General Hospital) with the goal of transforming it into a regional referral hospital on Sumbawa Island, West Nusa Tenggara. To achieve this, there is a strong need for qualified and professional medical personnel, and IIK Bhakta was chosen as a strategic partner to support this goal through its academic excellence.

In addition to education, the partnership opens opportunities in research and innovation. Head of BRIDA Bima City, A. Rafik, S.T., proposed collaborative research initiatives to IIK Bhakta’s academic community, particularly in exploring the potential of wild horse milk, a traditional and high-value commodity of Sumbawa. He noted that this local resource holds significant promise in terms of nutritional value, therapeutic benefits, and the potential for downstream product development within the health industry.

Rektor of IIK Bhakta, Prof. Dr. apt. Muhamad Zainuddin, warmly welcomed the partnership and emphasized that this collaboration represents a concrete contribution of higher education institutions in supporting the national vision, especially in realizing the President’s Nawacita agenda towards Golden Indonesia 2045. He reaffirmed that IIK Bhakta upholds the principle of “impactful higher education”, where all educational, research, and community engagement activities must create tangible benefits for society.

“This afternoon marks a historic moment of synergy between the Bima City Government and IIK Bhakta — one that is set to bring positive impacts not only in education but also in regional healthcare development and research based on local potential,” said Prof. Zainuddin.

With a spirit of collaboration and a shared commitment to advancing Eastern Indonesia, this partnership is expected to act as a catalyst for transformation in the health and research sectors of Bima. Furthermore, it is anticipated to expand access to quality health education and foster innovative research rooted in local wisdom.
