History of the Faculty

The history of the establishment of the Faculty of Health at the Institut Ilmu Kesehatan Bhakti Wiyata (IIK Bhakta) Kediri began with the issuance of its operational permit by the Directorate General of Higher Education (DIKTI) under Decree No. 139/D/O/2005 in September 2005. Initially, the faculty was named the Faculty of Public Health and oversaw six study programs:

• Bachelor’s in Public Health (S1)

• Bachelor’s in Nursing (S1)

• Diploma IV in Medical Laboratory Technology (D4)

• Diploma III in Medical Laboratory Technology (D3)

• Diploma III in Health Information Management (D3)

• Diploma III in Physiotherapy (D3)

In 2007, a new study program was introduced: Diploma IV in Traditional Chinese Medicine. This was followed in 2009 by the launch of the Diploma III in Midwifery program. In November 2014, the Faculty of Public Health officially changed its name to the Faculty of Health Sciences, as stated in Decree No. 06A/IIK-BW/KEP/R/XI/2014.

Based on Rector’s Decree No. 74/IIK-BW/KEP/R/IX/2017, the D3 and D4 Medical Laboratory Technology programs were transferred to the Faculty of Science, Technology, and Analysis in 2017. In 2018, the Faculty of Health Sciences expanded by opening two new study programs:

• Bachelor’s in Nutrition (S1)

• Bachelor’s in Hospital Administration (S1)

In 2010, the Nursing Profession Education program began accepting students.

By Rector’s Decree No. 90/KEP/R/AK.9.3/IX/2020, the faculty was renamed the Faculty of Health, and the following programs—Bachelor of Public Health (S1), Bachelor of Health Administration (S1), and Diploma III in Health Information Management—were transferred to the Faculty of Health Engineering and Management.

In 2020, two new programs were added:

• Bachelor’s in Midwifery (S1)

• Midwifery Profession Education

In 2022, the Bachelor of Psychology (S1) program was launched. Another Bachelor of Psychology program is scheduled to open in 2025.

Currently, the Faculty of Health oversees ten study programs:

1. Bachelor’s in Nursing (S1)

2. Nursing Profession Education

3. Bachelor’s in Nutrition (S1)

4. Bachelor’s in Psychology (S1)

5. Bachelor’s in Midwifery (S1)

6. Midwifery Profession Education

7. Diploma IV in Traditional Chinese Medicine

8. Diploma III in Midwifery

9. Diploma III in Physiotherapy

10. Bachelor’s in Physiotherapy (S1)
